AION news: Aion future prospect
I had the wonderful opportunity to ask Chris Hager, the Producer of Aion, some questions about the future of Aion and what players can expect. Aion was a huge success when it released in 2009, and it's been a fantastic start to 2010. With the “Vision of Aion” video released not too long ago, I know that I and other players are very excited to see what the future will bring to this amazing game.
Beckett: For those who have not seen the Aion Vision Trailer, can you briefly go over some of the key points that this video showed?
Chris Hager: The Aion Vision Trailer is a pretty exciting glimpse at where the development team sees Aion in the future. Think of it as a brief window into the heads of our designers. There are features inside the trailer that are the “blue sky” dreaming of what the development team thinks would be really cool to have in game, from huge leaps in graphical enhancements to epic bosses that attack towns and underwater content. The more exciting aspect of the Vision trailer are the ideals that the development team can apply to the current client to improve the experience.
Beckett: What is your favorite feature that will be coming to Aion in the future?
CH: I’m most looking forward to more areas where we come across the PvPvE in Aion. As the development team has said before, the Dredgion instance is the culmination of PvPvE, and I can’t wait to see what they do to expand on that and make it more exciting.
Beckett: What makes Aion stand out from other MMORPGs?
CH: The graphics obviously speak for itself, but I think Aion’s gameplay really stands apart from other MMOs. The use of flying and gliding in a strategic way makes you think in the third dimension for combat. Also, the PvPvE stands out as something unique that I really enjoy. The combination of fighting other players and at the same time fighting off the Balaur, while having an overall strategic goal in mind, really adds a new way of thinking to combat.
Beckett: When can players start expecting to see some of the results from the Aion Vision Trailer in-game on NA servers?
CH: The Aion Vision Trailer is a glimpse at potential. Some of these features will be available in the near future, others require significantly more development time, and there are probably some that would be so extensive to incorporate that we may only see glimpses of them. Still, I think we can expect to see the fruits of labor from the Vision Trailer in the not-too-distant future, as I know the development team is hard at work making sure that happens.
Beckett: Are there any plans to put in a free trial of Aion for people to try out before making the full game purchase?
CH: Yes, we are seriously considering providing players with free trials of Aion in the future. Right now we are working on making sure the game experience is the best it can possibly be.
