Age-of-Conan-news-the-release-of-new-update-1-07
Age of Conan Game Director Craig Morrison returns with the Letter from the Game Director for February. The new letter focuses mainly on version 1.07, which will be the last game update before the release of the Rise of the Godslayer expansion sometime this year.
1.07 will consist mostly of "under the hood" changes, but there are a few standout features that players will be sure to notice. One such feature is an expansion of travel options. This will mostly come in the form of additional wagoner NPC's at key locations of each zone, such as quest hubs and major outposts. The wagoners will offer one way transportation to other key areas of the particular zone.
However, the real standout feature of 1.07 is the inclusion of an offline progression system. Players will earn levels even while offline, and can then allocate these extra levels to their characters through the character creation screen. Mr. Morrison does stress that these extra levels aren't implemented in such a fashion that they would discourage players from actually playing the game, but are more of an extra boost to help your main or alts keep up when you can't be around.
The current rate of offline level gain would take someone a full nine months to level a new character to the level cap without ever playing it, and Mr. Morrison states that it may be adjusted even further, so this is obviously not going to be the fastest way to level your alts.

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is a fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the Norwegian computer video game developer company Funcom and published by Eidos Interactive for PCs. The game launched on May 17, 2008 for those who had pre-ordered the game and registered for early access; the full release of the game for North America was May 20, 2008 and for Europe May 23, 2008 for the PC version. Although originally announced as being available for the Xbox 360, the console version is at least a year behind schedule.
Hyborian Adventures is the first installment in the planned Age of Conan series. Age of Conan itself takes place within the continent of the Hyborian kingdoms, a year after the events depicted in Robert E. Howard's Conan novel, The Hour of the Dragon. Hyborian Adventures' release celebrated the 76th anniversary of the Conan franchise.
Characters in Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures are created on a user account on a particular online server. Characters created on one server cannot be played on another. Players create characters which function as their virtual avatars in the online world of Hyboria. When creating a character in Age of Conan, the player may choose from three playable races. The character is one of four archetypes (in bold) and one of three class selections for each archetype.
Combat is based on five directions of attacking an opponent with a sword: hacking down against the head, slashing diagonally down from the left and right, and slashing diagonally up from the left or right. These directions are designed to be naturally strung together in combinations. Difficult combos cause additional damage and faster combat. (You do not get two of the lower attacks untill later in the game).
